About
Suburban gardening, slow living, and the occasional big production.

Hi, I'm Shannon.
I'm a bilingual creative from Orange County, working in English and Traditional Chinese, with a background in visual communications and a career spent producing live events. In my downtime I grow food, and I've been doing it for over nine years, across three very different climates, from cold winters to a humid subtropical city to the small, hot, zone 10A yard I share with my family now.
Shannily is where I share all of it. It started as a garden diary from a suburban lot with a 6x4 in-ground bed we dug ourselves, a lot of pots on cement, no raised beds yet, and a real budget, and that diary is where most of the writing lives right now. But it's also the sourdough I bake with a very old starter, the food we cook from what we grow, the slow work of making home a calmer place to be, and, before long, video. If it's part of how we live, it belongs here.
I'm not a beginner and I'm not an expert. I'm someone who's been paying attention for a long time and finally decided to write it down. If you grow in a small space, a hot climate, or on a budget, I hope something here is useful.
